TIPS AND STRATEGIES:
TEN GREAT TIPS FOR ANY GAMBLER
1.
Know The Game:
Some games do give you better odds than others. There is a wealth of information
both on the Internet and in print to inform you of the odds you face in
any given game and the strategies that will help shave the house edge
to a minimum. Spend a little time reading and you'll spend a lot less
time wondering what happened to your money.
2. Know
Your Budget:
Let's say you've got $1,000 and you expect to gamble five times a week
for the next two weeks. Then your budget is $100 per session. If you
are unfortunate and you spend your budget, then walk away. Enjoy the
rest of the day knowing you kept your budget and prepare to win the
next day. Do not touch any other days portion of the budget.
3. Keep
Emotion Out Of The Game:
If you find yourself betting your rent money, your next car payment
or if you have lost the last twenty bets in a row - stand up and walk
away. You can not possibly think rationally and you can not keep your
emotions from influencing your decisions. You must play the odds not
play your emotions.
4. Don't
Play While Under The Influence:
If you are stoned, drunk, or half asleep, you are a lesser player than
you are straight.
5. Nothing
Beats A Game Of Chance:
The numbers will always rule the outcome. If they do not, you got lucky.
Do not fall for "systems" - they will always fail in the long
run if they are not numbers based. You are playing to have fun and should
expect to lose. If you win, great.
6. It
is all Numbers:
If you're playing to win, know the odds and play accordingly. The
numbers may be dull, but they are your roadmap to avoiding the losing
plays. Hunches, ESP, clairvoyance, tea leaves, remote viewing and divination
are all secondary choices to the mathematics of your game.
7. Take
The Winnings And Run:
Have a plan for when to stop. Some folks call it quits when they're
up by 50%. Some when they've doubled their session bankroll. Others
bail when the tide turns and they lose 20% of their winnings. Whatever
your break-point, it's important to have one and stick to it.
8. Expect
To Lose:
Casinos do not depend on luck to stay in business. On virtually every
bet you make in whatever game you play, the house's win is designed
right into the rules of the game. And that edge generally means they'll
be the winner a lot more often than you will be. Players can find and
play games where the house edge is 1.5% or less but you'll have to do
your homework.
9. Play
The Game, Not The Gimmicks:
That "insurance" bet in Blackjack: house edge around 6%. The
so-called "crapless craps": again, about 6%. Sure there's
the occasional exception but in general the "add-ons" to the
basic games are sucker bets.
10.
Fun Is The Name Of The Game:
Unless you're a professional player with a proven track record, you're
playing for the pleasure of it. For 98% of players casino gambling is
recreation -- you're spending money to be entertained.
TIPS & TACTICS - BLACKJACK
Did you know that Blackjack is one of the casino games with the best odds?
The only catch to Blackjack is that you must play right to win!
Blackjack is also believed to be the most popular casino game.
It is always best to play Basic Strategy.
However, if you don't want to carry around a strategy chart,
every time before making a move you can use these basic guidelines.
• Take a card on 16 or lower if the dealer shows a 7 or higher, because you probably can't win unless the dealer bust.
• Stand with a 12 or higher if the dealer shows a 2 through 6, because he is more likely to bust.
• "Doubling down" involves doubling your wager and getting just one more card when you
feel strongly that you will beat the dealer when doing so.
Always double down on 11, double down on 10 or 9 against a weaker dealer card.
• "Splitting" allows you to double your bet by splitting two identical cards into separate hands.
Always split aces and 8's. Always split 2's or 3's against a 4, 5, or 6.
And never split face cards, 10's, or 5's
THE MOST COMMON TYPES OF ONLINE POKER GAMES
The first time you ever played "dealer's choice" poker, you were probably amazed at the
number of variations on the game. Thankfully, when you play online, you'll only encounter
a few different games - try them all and see which one you enjoy the most!
TEXAS HOLD'EM
Each player is dealt two hole cards, and then a total of five community cards are dealt for the entire table; first, three
cards (the flop) are dealt, then one card (the turn) and one final card (the river), with a round of betting after each.
Your hand is the best poker hand that can be made from the seven cards.
OMAHA
Each player is dealt four hole cards, and then a total of five community cards are dealt for the entire table; first, three
cards (the flop) are dealt, then one card (the turn) and one final card (the river), with a round of betting after each.
Your hand is the best poker hand that can be made from two of your hole cards, and three of the community cards.
OMAHA HI-LO
The game is played the same way as Omaha, except that there can be two winning hands, the best five cards and the lowest five cards.
If there are two winners, they split the pot; if there is no qualifying low winner, then the high hand takes the entire pot.
According to the rules in most casinos, in order for a low hand to qualify it must have five cards of different values, with no card higher than an 8.
SEVEN CARD STUD
Each player is dealt their own cards, starting with two hole cards (face down), and then five cards dealt one at a time (the first four face up and the last
card face down), with a round of betting after each new card is dealt. Your hand is the best poker hand that can be made from
the seven cards you've been dealt.
SEVEN CARD STUD HI-LO
The game is played the same way as seven card stud, except that there can be two winning hands, the best five cards and the lowest five cards.
If there are two winners, they split the pot; if there is no qualifying low winner, then the high hand takes the entire pot.
According to the rules in most casinos, in order for a low hand to qualify it must have five cards of different values, with no card higher than an 8.
WHAT ABOUT THOSE PAYOUT PERCENTAGES?
We no longer list the payout percentages for each casino.
There are several reasons for this:
• Payout percentages from some casinos are certified by a major accounting firm,
percentages from some casinos are simply provided by the casino themselves without certification,
and there are some casinos don't even provide payout percentages. Comparing payout percentages is
really, for that reason, comparing apples and oranges.
• Payout percentages that are certified change every month, and can change drastically.
We've seen some casinos certified at over 98% one month, and at under 95% the next.
• Payout percentages are just that, percentages of the total amount wagered each month. The
average person would have to wager tens of thousands of dollars in a month, before the payouts would even begin
to have any real relevance to their actual play.
Imagine walking into a casino and putting $20 into a slot machine. The payout percentages for that particular
machine really wouldn't have any bearing on whether you win or lose with that $20 - you're simply not betting
enough for the percentages to really mean anything.
Our feeling is that you should choose an online casino based on its games, bonuses and other perks - and whether
you enjoy playing there --- and that you should be playing to have fun, not betting enough for the percentages to really
have any bearing on your play.
However, if you still are interested in casino payout percentages, just look on the casino's welcome page
for a small icon with the name of one of the top-five accounting firms on it (we're not allowed to even
mention their name, for legal reasons). If the casino has its payouts certified, that link will lead you
to the latest documentation.
